Situation & Challenge
Telehealth for mental health requires more than video calls — patients need continuity between sessions, privacy assurance, and low-friction preparation before speaking with a therapist. ReadySetConnect needed one calm, trustworthy app for the full care journey.
- •Upcoming session visibility with date, time, and video session type
- •Therapist directory with specialties, online status, and direct messaging
- •Pre-session mood check-in and optional notes before joining
- •Secure, confidential messaging with file sharing between sessions
- •Privacy-first UX with clear confidentiality messaging throughout
What I Built & Why
I built the Flutter client around patient trust and session continuity — dark atmospheric UI, session cards with join actions, mood-based check-in, and a messaging layer designed to feel secure rather than like a generic chat app.
- •Home dashboard with upcoming session card, quick actions, and therapist list
- •Session detail screen with schedule, duration, therapist profile, and Join Session CTA
- •Mood selector and optional check-in notes before video appointments
- •Secure messaging with read receipts, PDF resource sharing, and quick-action pills
- •REST API and real-time messaging integration for sessions and chat
Decisions I Made
Architectural and product choices from production constraints — not hindsight slides.
Pre-session mood check-in before video join
Added optional mood selection and notes on the session screen — therapists get context before the call starts, and patients feel prepared rather than jumping straight into video.
Secure messaging as continuity, not an afterthought
Built confidential chat with privacy banners, read receipts, PDF resource sharing, and quick actions like "Schedule a session" — care continues between appointments, not only during video calls.
Session-first home dashboard
Placed the next upcoming session at the top with a direct Join action — telehealth apps fail when patients cannot find their appointment; the home screen answers that in one glance.
Privacy messaging at every touchpoint
Reinforced confidentiality with lock icons and explicit secure-conversation copy in messaging and session flows — mental health products need trust signals beyond generic app chrome.
