Situation & Challenge
Pet care is fragmented across sitters, walkers, groomers, and vets — each with different availability, pricing, and trust signals. Pawland needed a unified marketplace where owners discover services locally, evaluate providers, and complete bookings in one flow.
- •Location-aware search and category discovery for pet sitting, walking, grooming, and vet care

- •Multi-step booking with date, time, notes, and transparent price breakdown

What I Built & Why
I built the Flutter client around marketplace discovery and booking reliability — dark-themed UI, horizontal date/time pickers, provider cards, and status-driven booking management designed for repeat pet-care scheduling.
- •Home discovery with search, category chips, popular services carousel, and top-rated sitters
- •Service detail and booking flow with sub-service selection, provider profile, and confirm step
- •Calendar-style date picker and time-slot selection with optional booking notes
- •My Bookings with status filters (Upcoming, Completed, Cancelled) and per-card actions
- •REST API integration for services, providers, availability, and booking lifecycle
Decisions I Made
Architectural and product choices from production constraints — not hindsight slides.
Location-first discovery over generic listings
Built search and category browsing around the user's city — pet care is inherently local, so the home experience leads with location context rather than a flat national catalog.
Horizontal date and time pickers for mobile booking
Used scrollable date and time-slot rows instead of full calendar modals — faster thumb-driven selection when booking grooming or sitting on a phone.
Status-driven bookings hub
Split appointments into Upcoming, Completed, and Cancelled tabs with per-card reschedule and cancel — owners manage active care schedules without digging through history.
Provider trust on every card
Ratings, review counts, specialty tags, and online indicators on sitter and service cards — marketplace conversion depends on trust signals visible before booking.
